Dr. Chris Reeder

veterinary

Dr. Chris Reeder is a 2003 graduate of Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine, summa cum laude. While attending Auburn University, he received numerous awards including the Distinguished Veterinary Dermatology Award, Veterinary Neurology Award and Merck-Merial fellowship in genetic research on exercise-induced hyperthermia in the Labrador Retriever. After graduation, Dr. Reeder practiced small animal medicine/surgery in Louisville, Kentucky for 3 years. During this time he further developed his interest in dermatology.

Dr. Reeder went on to complete a residency training program in veterinary dermatology at Animal Dermatology Clinic in Tustin, CA and became board-certified as a specialist in veterinary dermatology in 2008. After which, he moved back to his hometown of Louisville, KY and started the city’s first full-time dermatology practice. Dr. Reeder served as the senior dermatologist with Animal Dermatology Clinic in Louisville for 8 years. In 2016, Dr. Reeder relocated to middle Tennessee and began practicing veterinary dermatology at a large veterinary specialty clinic near Nashville, TN. In fall of 2019, filled with a desire to practice excellence in veterinary dermatology by serving people and pets individually, Dr. Reeder founded Lighthouse Veterinary Allergy & Dermatology.

Additionally, Dr. Reeder has published numerous articles both nationally and internationally. He enjoys lecturing to local and national audiences. Dr. Reeder has worked with several industry partners and participates regularly in clinical research projects to pave the way for new treatments for animals. He has served on the American College of Veterinary Dermatology credentials and ad hoc committees. As well as previously served the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association as a representative on the executive board. Dr. Reeder enjoys continuing to give back to the veterinary community by helping to train veterinary students, interns and residents.

Dr. Reeder’s special interests are allergic diseases, immune-mediated skin disease, otitis externa and dermatopathology.

Outside of the office, sticking to his combination of midwest and southeast upbringing, Dr. Reeder is blessed to have a small hobby farm to enjoy with his wife and three wonderful children.
